La Republica Dominicana

Tristan and I spent a week in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. While our main goal was to achieve ultimate relaxion, we also wanted to explore and see what non-resort life was like. So on Thursday, we booked a day trip with a company that takes visitors into towns and villages. The first stop was at a small school house (top photo), followed by a "typical house," where we met this sweet lady (above). She didn't speak a word of english. Actually, she didn't say a word at all while we were there. But she smiled and was more than happy to be in photos. Next, we visited a coffee/cocoa plantation, followed by an art market, a cigar and rum shop, and finally, a seperate beach for boogie boarding. We really enjoyed this trip, and got a kick out of our amazing tour guide, Alex (centre photo). Not only did he know absolutely everything about the country, he also stood on the back bumper of the bus and served beer and rum the entire time.
